How YoungThinkr works, end to end - accounts, child profiles, the curriculum, personalisation and security.
Getting your account
YoungThinkr is invite-only during early access. Self-serve signup is disabled.
- Request an invite from the Early Access page.
- When we invite you, you'll receive an email to set your password.
- Complete parent onboarding (family context) and add your first child.
- Enable the modules you want, then share your child's login URL and PIN with them.
Onboarding & family context
Onboarding captures a light family context - values, interests, background - that the platform uses to personalise lessons. You can edit or add to this at any time from the parent dashboard, and it's private to your household.
Child profiles
Each child profile includes:
- Name, age (8–16) and grade
- A profile avatar
- A personal login URL and a PIN stored as a hash
- A choice of narrator voice - Mike (British), Jenny (British), Gary (American) or Jessica (American)
- A current difficulty level, tuned by the platform and reviewable by parents
- Progress and lesson history
- Per-child module activation
Age-fit recommendations
Modules are tagged All ages, Best from 10+, or Best from 13+. When you add a child, we pre-enable the modules that fit their age, and you can use Enable recommended or Enable all to change the set in one click. If a module is enabled for a younger child than recommended, you'll see a gentle hint on the card.
Curriculum
YoungThinkr ships with 17 core modules. Each module contains three lessons plus a review. There are no forced prerequisites - parents decide the order and pace.
We teach actual ideas from more than 90 of the world's most important thinkers, scientists and economists - from Aristotle to the researchers publishing today - correctly sourced and honestly explained, then translated for every age from 8 to 16.
How it works day to day
Assigning & reviewing lessons
From the parent dashboard you can assign a specific lesson to a child. Assigned lessons appear in a dedicated "Lessons Assigned by Parent" section on the child dashboard. Once completed, you can review the child's answers alongside the AI's feedback in the progress history panel.
Personalisation & AI
Lesson text is adapted per child using the child's profile, your family context, and module-specific guidance (tone, teaching approach, and things to avoid). Audio explanations are generated on demand via the child's chosen narrator voice. Every module and lesson also has an Explain button that produces a short spoken overview.
Family Conversations Guide
The Conversations Guide offers per-module prompts, learning goals, and an offline activity, plus tone and teaching notes for parents. Download the full PDF to share with a partner or use away from the screen.
Security & sessions
- Parents sign in with email and password. Passwords are checked against known-breach lists.
- Child PINs are stored hashed and verified server-side with rate limiting.
- Child sessions last about an hour; if a session expires mid-lesson, the child re-enters their PIN and progress is preserved.
- Suspended accounts are signed out on next request.
Safeguarding
Lesson answers, reflections and study buddy messages are screened for signs of distress or harm. If something is flagged, it appears privately on the parent dashboard under "Worth a conversation" with the child's own words, and serious flags also send you an email. The child is never accused or blocked; if they write something suggesting they are unsafe, the study buddy responds warmly and points them to a trusted adult and Childline. This is a support signal for parents, not monitoring or a crisis service, and it cannot catch everything.
